Crime Prevention 2103 is an introduction to Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design. The student will learn the basic concepts of CPTED and how they are applied in a security plan. The student will be able to identify the following:

Crime Prevention 2101 introduces students to the concepts of physical security and basic problem solving for law enforcement. Student will learn the basics of target hardening, and crime prevention. The student will be expected to conduct a student presentation as well as identify the following:

Crime Prevention 2102 covers commercial security and the TCPA Security Assessment. This course is more advanced and goes deeper into commercial applications of security and the power of prevention. The student will be able to identify the following:

Upon completion of Crime Prevention 2101, 2102 and 2103, student is eligible to take the TCOLE exam to become a Certified Crime Prevention Specialist (CCPS). Students must meet all criteria in order to be eligible to take the exam.
2 hours | Prerequisite - Completion of Crime Prevention 2101, 2102, and 2103.
Students are eligible for the CCPS Study Session upon completion of CP1, CP2, and CP3. Students must meet all criteria in order to be eligible for the study session.
The 50th Annual Texas Crime Prevention Association Conference will take place on July 21-24, 2025, at the Hilton College Station & Conference Center located 801 University Drive East College Station, TX 77840. The 2025 conference provides continuing training education for Crime Prevention Specialists and Security Professionals as well as allows for the exchange of Crime Prevention programs that have been successful throughout the nation. Conference attendees will also have the opportunity to meet with various vendors during the week and attend the onsite Security Technology Expo on Tuesday, July 22 from 10:00 AM - 4 :00 PM. The Security Technology Expo will feature industry experts showcasing innovative advancements in surveillance, access control and cybersecurity solutions.
Crime Prevention Specialists must successfully complete an update course or be assigned primarily as a crime prevention specialist by the appointing chief administrator once every two years in order to maintain their proficiency pursuant to the TCOLE §221.39 standard. The conference agenda will be posted upon completion.
The Hilton College Station & Conference Center is offering TCPA a special group rate of $107 per night if booked prior to June 26, 2025. Room rate is available July 17 - July 24 based on room availability.

ALERRT Update is a 5-hour training (TCOLE #3312) class designed to prepare the first responder to isolate, distract, and neutralize an active attack. This class will cover shooting and moving, threshold evaluation, concepts and principles of team movement, setting up for and room entry techniques, approaching and breaching the crisis site, secondary responder tactics, improvised explosive devices, and post engagement priorities of work. This class along with 3 of the 4 online ALERRT courses (listed below) will allow Officers to comply with the *16 hours ALERRT mandate prior to August 31, 2025, current training unit. If an officer has never attended ALERRT Level I Course #3311, then he/she must take it somewhere else prior to the end of the current training unit because these courses would not satisfy that requirement.
